For generations the native coastal Maori population of New Zealand has consumed raw New Zealand Green Lipped Mussels as a primary part of their diet. This unique mussel is known scientifically as 'Perna canaliculus'. For centuries, it has provided an excellent source of protein, vitamins, minerals and extremely valuable Omega-3 fatty acids. For many hundreds of years, the Maoris would harvest the mussels growing naturally on the seashores and would eat them raw. Even though they saw the mussel as an important part of their diet, they did not realise the benefits they were gaining. The Green Lipped Mussel possesses a profile of Omega-3 essential fatty acids which are unique to its species. The presence of this rich source of essential fatty acids provides the mussel with potent soothing action.
SupernaTM is a high grade, Green Lipped Mussel powder, made from a mussel that is indigenous to New Zealand. SupernaTM is manufactured from new Zealand Green Lipped Mussels (Perna Canaliculus) collected from mussels grown on hanging ropes in the South Pacific sea monitored and supervised by the new Zealand government Marine Authority.
Green Lipped Mussels are farmed in a very controlled method. There are strict procedures that are adhered to before the mussels may be harvested. Pollution and algae are monitored on a daily basis, and no harvesting is permitted after heavy rainfall. This ensures that when the mussels reach us for processing you can be assured that they are among the safest seafood in the world
SupernaTM is a new generation of Green Lipped Mussels (Perna Canaliculus). The Mussels under go a special cold-processing method, which ensures that 5-10 times more ETA is extracted compared to other methods. SupernaTM provides maximum levels of ETA and naturally occurring Glucosamine and chondroitin. SupernaTM can therefore help keep joints supple and mobile.
