In Detail
Strenuous work and travelling are an inescapable part of the performance horse’s life. Intense exercise and stress can lead to excessive sweating, through which essential electrolytes are lost, which may result in premature fatigue, listlessness and muscle cramps and can lead to colic.
Electrolytes are salts, such as chloride, sodium and potassium, which are vital for the well being of your horse. Naturally, when he sweats he will inevitably lose some of these salts. However, it is through prolonged sweating caused by strenuous exercise, travelling or simply hot weather that an imbalance can occur, leaving your horse without the minerals that his body needs.
By feeding an electrolyte supplement after exercise, your horse is able to reabsorb these lost salts and restore balance to his system.
Maxavita’s Electrolytes is a water soluble supplement of electrolytes for use in equine drinking water or via feeding stuffs to help prevent poor recovery and promote rehydration. The Electrolyte formula is designed to resupply electrolytes, which have been lost in sweat, during exercise or during periods of stress such as intestinal upsets, transportation etc. The Isotonic nature of this formula encourages rapid water uptake as well as the replacement of electrolytes.
Dosage
Isotonic Solution: Dissolve one 50ml (33g) scoop per litre of clean, fresh water. Give 1 – 2 litres per horse at times of stress or exercise. Alternatively, may be given via drinking water at a rate of 33g per 5 litres.
Add one 50ml (33g) scoop to moistened feed to help replenish essential salts.
Ensure a source of clean fresh water is available to animals being given Electrolytes.
3kg tub is 90 servings.
